baking extravaganza 2012

Well I mentioned last week that the baking extravaganza for Christmas was beginning. Here is the proof! A funny story as well…I thought I’d cut a few corners this year and use pre-made mixes for cookies. Mistake. I tried a ginger snap mix and peanut butter cookie mix and ended up wasting an entire morning. On my way out to the store to get all the ingredients to make those batches from scratch, I called my mom and (jokingly) yelled at her for ruining us! Her response was, “Okay – why now?” And I replied that her great baking and fun traditions at Christmas have ruined us forever because now pre-made mixes will never be good enough. I will always want homemade cookies from scratch made using my mom’s recipes. It brings Christmas home even when I’m far away from family. So now – onto the baking results!

And the final picture showing the wrapping and proof that we did share these goodies with friends!

Nomnomnom. That poppyseed bread sounds fantastic! Also, people outside of Ohio don’t have buckeyes? Weird.

The poppyseed bread recipe is on it’s way to you Carolyn! Also – nope, no one ever knows what we’re talking about when we mention buckeyes. haha Sarah has the same reaction at her workplace in Utah – everyone loved them, but had never heard of them or at least heard them called Buckeyes before.

    Are those peanut butter m&’s?!
